Bird Life

Parrots in Flight.jpg

We have gone from a city where the parks were full of seagulls to one where the parks are full of parrots.

For some reason, pigeons are around, no matter what city you are in.

It’s a strange thing to see flocks of wild birds that we have, until now, only seen as pets in cages.

    Hi John & Robin,
How beautiful! Sounds like you two are really feeling plugged in there. We also enjoy Mate…not in the the fancy gourds in a social setting, but just in a cup.
The parrots are so beautiful. Wonder what keeps people from stealing them, transporting them (cleverly) and selling them for over a thousand dollars in the US?
Certainly not suggesting, but just wondering…
    Love, mom & dad

Those are called either Quaker or Monk Parrots in the USA. They are not native to North America, but many have escaped or were set free by their owners and thousands now inhabit the USA.

I actually have one as a pet. He is the most friendly and attention requiring pet I have ever had. They are also considered one of the top ten speaking birds in the world.
